A Perfect Cup of Green Tea

By rhondascooking 1 Comment

The key to a perfect cup of green tea is having good tea. My favorite green tea is Longjing loose leaf tea that I get directly from my friends who live in China. However, if I don’t have any available, then my number two green tea choice is Tazo(R) Zen in the silk tea bags (available at any Starbucks). For recommendations on how to select green tea, click here to read a blog post that wrote with tips and suggestions.

The following is my recipe for delicious green tea.

2 teaspoons loose green tea leaves (or 1 tea bag)
    1 cup (8ounces) water
½ teaspoon raw honey or raw agave nectar (optional)

Add tea leaves to a tea ball or mesh strainer and place in a large ceramic cup.  Bring water to a boil (be careful not to allow the water to come to a rolling boil). Pour hot water over the tea leaves and let steep 3 to 4 minutes.  Remove tea ball or strainer and serve.  If desired, add honey or agave nectar to tea.
